caring for your garments
wear me well, or pass me on to someone you love. but to do that, treat me with care. here are some tips on how to do so.
polyester fabrics
- To prevent snags, always turn garments inside out before washing.
- We recommend washing the garments in cold water to prevent gradual shrinkage.
- Hang dry our garments, but if you’re in a hurry, tumble-drying it at a low temperature setting is safe.
- Iron in moderate temperature setting, or better yet, use a steam iron.
- Synthetics are not a fan of oil. Use a non-bleach dishwashing liquid and gently rub the affected area with warm water. Do not allow it to dry and wash as per usual with your detergent.
- Always check our labels, certain fabrics differ from others!
Natural fabrics
- To prevent snags and fading of colour, always turn garments inside out before washing.
- Hand wash in cold water. While fabrics like Tencel resist shrinkage, it shrinks about 3% on the first wash. If you want to machine wash it, it is recommended to put it in a mesh laundry bag and or set it on delicate wash.
- Hang dry our garments, but if you’re in a hurry, tumble-drying it at a low temperature setting is safe. A tip is to briefly toss the garment in a dryer with a damp towel to soften the fabric before line drying it. Do not twist or wring dry your garment, it might break the natural fibre.
- Iron in moderate temperature setting, or better yet, use a steam iron.
- Chlorine can weaken cotton fibres. Even diluted solutions will weak them causing them to wear out if used too often. Always use an oxygen-based bleach that works more slowly but will make your garment last longer.
